How Car Financing Works for U.S. Military in Germany
You don’t need the full price saved up
Most of our buyers finance through an American credit union. Autobahn66 Car Sales doesn’t lend money itself, but we work with every bank and credit union our buyers use, and we prepare the paperwork your lender needs.
Navy Federal Credit Union: the quickest route
- All military branches and DoD civilians are eligible.
- You apply yourself, by phone or online. Pre-approval often takes about 30 minutes by phone.
- Have your LES, military ID and PCS orders ready.
- Tip: call before you leave the States, and you can land in Germany with financing already in hand.
Andrews Federal Credit Union
Andrews FCU has a branch on Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden. You can walk in and apply, and we can send our paperwork to them alongside your application.
Auto loan or personal loan?
Credit unions only give auto loans on newer cars. A car over 10 years old or over 100,000 miles is financed with a personal loan instead. Personal loan rates usually run about 2–3% higher, so the monthly payment is higher. The payment shown on each of our listings already takes this into account.
USAA members
USAA doesn’t provide financing for used cars bought overseas. Navy Federal or Andrews FCU are the way to go.
How it works with us
- Pick your car and reserve it with a $300 deposit. The deposit goes toward the price and is refunded if your financing doesn’t go through.
- Get approved with your lender.
- We send you a bill of sale in the format your lender needs.
- Your lender wires the funds to our U.S. company, Autobahn66 USA LLC.
- We complete the paperwork and hand over your car, or deliver it if you’re outside Wiesbaden.
